Panchase Trek is a short trek through the green lush forest of Panchase to summit the 2500 meters high peak of Panchase. Hike along the forest of rhododendron and pine to get high above the clouds. Also, enjoy the views of some of the highest peaks of the country.

Trip Overview

“Trek through the green diverse forest of Western Nepal”

Panchase Trek is a short hike tour to explore the surrounding villages and the lush forest in and around the lake city of Pokhara. Get closer to the lifestyle of the people living in this region alongside the picturesque sub-tropical and alpine scenery.

Hike along the dirt path of the green lush Panchase forest to finally get a chance to climb up the 2500 meters Panchase Peak. Our trip starts with a pick up from your hotel premises at the lake city of Pokhara. A short drive to the Thado Khola with a long strenuous climb will take us to the village of Bumdi. A steep uphill climb from there will take us to the village of Panchase Bhanjhyang, our major destination for the trek. Our trekking itinerary goes through all different paths so, we will have new scenic views all along the trek. Enjoy views of the Lamjung, Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Himchuli, Manaslu, and several other peaks during the trek. Also, get a chance to find diverse flora and fauna along the Panchase Forest.

Trip Itinerary

Day 01: Pokhara to Bumdi (1520m)

Day 02: Bumdi to Panchase Bhanjhyang (2000m)

Day 03: Panchase Bhanjhyang to Bhadaure (1670m)

Day 04: Bhadaure to Naudada and drive to Pokhara (827m)

Day 1
Pokhara to Bumdi (1520m)

Wake up early to the sunrise with great views of the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre peaks on the Phewa Lake. We will meet up at the hotel premises and then, get to the village of Thado Khola Valley. From there, we will start off our trek climbing up through strenuous green hills to get to the village of Bumdi. Enjoy views of the Ganesh, Manaslu, and the Annapurna Ranges from the village.

Day 2
Bumdi to Panchase Bhanjhyang (2000m)

Rouse to the beautiful views of the high Himalayan peaks. Climb up a steep path uphill through the green lush forest of rhododendron and pine to get to the village of Thulunchaur. Again, go through the green forest along the dirt road to hike up to the jeep trail that leads us uphill to the village of Panchase Bhanjhyang. During the day, we will be accompanied by the chirping of birds and the occasional views of the high peaks of Annapurna and Machhapuchhre.

Day 3
Panchase Bhanjhyang to Bhadaure (1670m)

Open your eyes early to climb the 2500 meters high peak of Panchase. It is the highest point of our trekking itinerary. The peak offers us breathtaking panoramic views of the Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Himchuli, Lamjung, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and several other snowcapped peaks. Enjoy the sunrise and then hike back to the village for a delicious meal. After breakfast, we will hike downhill through steep hills to arrive at the village of Bhadaure. The village is home to the largest portion of the Panchase Forest and offers a tranquil state of mind.

Day 4
Bhadaure to Naudada and drive to Pokhara (827m)

After an early breakfast, we will start our hike downhill along stone steps to get out of the village of Bhadaure. Walk along the jeep trail to get past a small stream to get to the village of Naudada. From there, the trail joins the Baglung-Pokhara Highway, so we will drive all the way back to the lake city of Pokhara. We will guide you to the hotel premises and then let the trek come to an end.

Frequently asked Questions

How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will to, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, hot water facility could be free at lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during off season.

It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.
